Just WOW... and just now on CNSNEWS.... "Paul Kengor, a political science professor at Grove City College and the author of new book, The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism."

Kengor focuses on a KGB letter written at the height of the Cold War that shows that Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) offered to assist Soviet leaders in formulating a public relations strategy to counter President Reagan's foreign policy and to complicate his re-election efforts. "

Has anyone tried to contact Professor Kengor to verify this report? CNS isn't exactly reliable. It seems to me a phone call to Grove City College and a ten minute conversation would clear up what precisely he is alleging and how sure he is of his sources.

Publishers Weekly does note: Ted Kennedy, on the other hand, emerges as a sneak and a dupe, willing to undermine U.S. foreign policy and make nice with the Russians.

the amazon.com Publisher's Weekly review mentions the Kennedy/Russia connection, so CNS didn't just make the whole thing up.

This is actually not that new a story. It was first published back in 1992, and other places since then.

See my blog entry (http://homepage.mac.com/cptchaz/iblog/C1200806250/E20061021214528/index.html) on the subject for details.
