Conflicting images????
Castro's picture by AP (and they do not admit to any authenticity on this one) show Castro holding a newspaper, showing him alive, well and recuperating.

However the photo of the newspaper in the hands of a citizen shows a 2-color print job.

Explanations? Retouching, printer's proof, understudy?
I think the currently released pictures are from a while back, with the current newspaper photoshopped in.
Here's a photo of Castro from July 2006 and what I notice is the beard is greyer and thinner under his lower lip.

AND...
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and Cuba's President Fidel Castro (R) listen to the Cuban national anthem at the baseball stadium 'Latinoamericano' in Havana in this May 14, 2002 file photo. Reuters by way of Yahoo.
Apologies to where I first saw this earlier today. Anyway what are the odds you grab out that ol' track suit 4 years later? The web is a wonderful thing.

They have their own PR-agencies, think they wouldn't do what every cheap magazine does to their cover models?
My issue is the method.
If the headline is supposed to be in a vertical block typeface, then the letters on this image are not angled correctly. They do not match the angle of the photo beneath them. Look at the vertical segments of the "E" "L" and "T" of "ABSUELTO." And the "P" in "POR."
Look at the "U" that is just above the left edge of the photo. The two vertical prongs are perfectly parallel with each other, but neither of them lines up with the left edge of the photo, nor do they line up with the far left edge of the paper that is peeking out from beneath Fidel's left hand.
What good eyes you have :)
So much does not add up. Quite a bit of talk that "he is holding" a proof of the newspaper. So if it was photogrpahed separately and stripped in, then it might account for some variance there.
See this clip, just aired in the UK, where Carter basically apologies for trying to assassinate Fidel while he was president and slams US policy... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szIwqF9-imE
