Hezbollah Funny Money - Put a Hotel on Baltic Avenue
I saw the video where NBC captured the counterfeit money coming off the press (geez) in Lebanon.
I have figured out that the $100 bills are the Robert Rubin (Treasury Secry. ) variety, as opposed to Paul O'Neill. I can tell that by the length of the signature. I superimposed
our real money next to the Hezbollah handouts and, of course, I certainly did not expect to discern differences from gifs and jpegs. But here ya' go.

UPDATE 8/22
Allah has taken this a bit futher as of this morning (8/22) regarding the seal on the right half of the $100 Hezbollah bill. Interestingly, our bills are not all alike, even here in the US.
I overlayed the O'Neill bill and the Rubin and look at how the seal is really the only thing that appreciably moves position. Does this help or hurt any explanations?
Anyone have a bill signed by Summers? Did he sign any $100s?
I sent an email to Yoni the Blogger in Israel explaining our suspicions about the conterfeit money. So I'm kicking this into high gear and if I don't hear back soon, I'll run the blog list over there for more help. I asked for some way to get someone to get their hands on one of those bills and do some sleuthing.
Odds are slim... not that they don't have enough to worry about. And I sure don't know anyone in Lebanon. I've got a list of Lebanese bloogers, though, so that's what I'm doing next.

Many of us are looking for fakes; nothing worth mentioning so far. A lot of my friends deal in cash, and come across a few, but not the mass that you would expect.
This is likely to be slow, because of budget limitations; I cannot afford to buy all the fake notes I may come across; they would exchange it at par. And if the guy who has it tells me about it, it will make it harder for them to "dump" it on the market...
My point is this; if it does not appear on the Lebanese market soon (mid september), it will appear later on the Syrian market, as workers go back with they pay (holidays; ramadan or christmas). Their system is less sophisticated than ours, and could serve as "dumping ground" for any extra goodies.
