Frightening: When Gov't does Health Care

We say it could not happen here (ha!) - but in Britain, a man cannot get ankle surgery because he can't (or won't as they posit) quit smoking.

Read the story.

So when waiting times get long, and the system is overworked, you just weed out the less desirable candidates. Afterall, our tax dollars have to go to those most likely to have successful recuperations.

On the list, perhaps, to be denied access to health care over time:

  1. Smokers
  2. the Overweight
  3. the Elderly
  4. the Drug Addict
  5. the Mentally Ill
  6. Premature babies
What's next? Euthanasia?  They lean that way in Europe.  What if you have two major illnesses? Does this mean you can't have treatment for the first ailment because you might not survive the second?

Teachers are also demanding to be equipped with stab-proof vests to protect them from attack as they frisk pupils for knives and guns.

London Bombing Foiled

britain_bomb.jpg Mercedes found in London's Haymarket area outside some nightclubs last night. The car was smoking, when it was discovered... in time for police to defuse it. The car contained petrol, gas cylinders, nails... and could have cause a big explosion and lots of injuries. Reports are also saying the style of the explosive, while not sophisticated, is similar to those used in Iraq.  A driver did run off and I'm readingand hearing that perhaps it could have been a suicide bomber or it could have been planned as a remote detonation.

British Airport Security - Very Scary

airportcctvMS0206_468x280.jpg

OK - now the Brits are supposed to be checking people at the airport gates before they board planes to the United States. What you see here is part of an expose on the lack of security over there. This photo shows a secuity employee sleeping at the gate!

"A leading American Congressman has called for flights from one of Britain's biggest airports to New York to be suspended - after guards who should have been checking suitcases for bombs and guns were filmed sleeping or reading newspapers.

Bennie G. Thompson - chairman of the Congress Homeland Security Committee - made the demand after watching secret TV footage from a six-month undercover investigation at Birmingham airport."

BBC: War Documentary Deemed "Too Positive"

wiraq308.jpg The BBC has decided not to produce a documentary about the youngest surviving man to ever receive their Victoria Cross, for his valiant actions in Iraq. The reason: the story is TOO POSITIVE and may offend those in the viewing audience that are against the Iraqi war.  (AP Photo) UK Telegraph

I worry about our friends over there.
