Conservative Quotable?

"It said, well, we can‘t stop illegal immigration, so we‘ll give everybody a driver‘s license. It strikes me as a death blow, a death knell to government. If you can‘t protect your border, you‘re not really a country, are you?"

You'd be surprised who said this.

Nashville asling to deport criminal illegals

After a recent spate of violent crimes allegedly committed by illegal or suspected illegal immigrants, Nashville has asked to become one of five American cities empowered to deport its own criminal illegal immigrants.    Sheriff’s Office personnel to screen anyone who is arrested and placed in jail, and who is suspected of being an illegal immigrant, to determine if those persons previously have been deported or are otherwise subject to any federal immigration enforcement action. Presently, sheriff’s deputies must feed information on arrested suspected illegal immigrants to a federal database in Vermont and wait for an answer that may or may not come.

Sounds good. A bit of a surprise, as the police chief hails from Seattle.

Homeland Security Chair: Don't Act On False IDs In Workplace

socialsecurity.jpgCaptains Quarters, and I quote:

A Mississippi Democrat in line to become chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee has warned the nation's largest uniform supplier it faces criminal charges if it follows a White House proposal to recheck workers with mismatched Social Security numbers and fire those who cannot resolve the discrepancy in 60 days.

Spain vows to curb migrant wave

Interesting article at the BBC:  "The Spanish government has said it will not tolerate the continued arrival of African migrants on its shores." This is more about the taxed resources in the Canary Islands than anything, but still points to the worldwide issue of immigration into Europe.

  • A poll for Cadena Ser radio on published Monday suggested that immigration now worried Spaniards more than anything else.
  • Last week Spain called on the European Union for more help to deal with the crisis. Now that's gonna' help.

They had a nice graphic as well.
