Friday Finds

  • A car carrying four men reportedly sped through the U.S. Customs port of entry off the ferry from Victoria on Wednesday night. This on the heels of unidentified men, acting suspiciouly on a ferry, that are wanted for questioning by the FBI.  UPDATE: Men were found. Americans in error.
  • Libya leading UN Racism Conference
  • Pigeon doo doo tied to Minneapolis bridge collapse. More at Blue Crab.
  • John Edwars embracing "change" as a tenet of a presidential campaign. This just brings home the point that Edwards (and Dems) are always 'fixin' to commence to begin'. Never a plan, just knock the current program.
  • Hillary Nutcracker? No comment needed.HCrackBsm.jpg

Friday Finds

  •   The average newspaper corrects very few of its factual errors, says professor.          Less than 2%. I'd say that qualifies.
  • Brussel's mayor bans a demonstration, in which Europeans want to commemorate 9/11 and march against Sharia law, because he fears an outburst of violence from the Muslim minority in this city. The decision is now being appealed.            Keeping the peace.
  • Mr. Edwards has ties to lenders foreclosing on Katrina victims. This is the company he worked in 2005-06. Interestingly, Fortress employees have collectively made up the largest class of political contributors to Mr. Edwards.            Do as I say, not as I do.  More at Captains Quarters, Michelle Malkin

Nashville asling to deport criminal illegals

After a recent spate of violent crimes allegedly committed by illegal or suspected illegal immigrants, Nashville has asked to become one of five American cities empowered to deport its own criminal illegal immigrants.    Sheriff’s Office personnel to screen anyone who is arrested and placed in jail, and who is suspected of being an illegal immigrant, to determine if those persons previously have been deported or are otherwise subject to any federal immigration enforcement action. Presently, sheriff’s deputies must feed information on arrested suspected illegal immigrants to a federal database in Vermont and wait for an answer that may or may not come.

Sounds good. A bit of a surprise, as the police chief hails from Seattle.

Disaster Map

Now this is pretty cool.  Somewhere this morning I saw a link to this site. (There's an English tab available.) A realtime, worldwide disaster map - what's the lastest in the last 24 hours - earthquakes, volcanos, floods, biohazard outbreaks and more.

Karl Rove Leaving at end of Month

Interesting.  FOX  guys are saying it's a real surprise. Now it appears that White House staff was told that if  they stayed after Labor Day they would be expected to stay until the end of Bush's term.  That could be the reason, or not.

Other choices

  1. Avoid testifying in congress
  2. Join a campaign (Rudy, Thompson, Romney)
I vote #2.

Radioactivity in NJ Probably Nothing

radioactive.gifBut none the less, did cause bit of a scare last night.  Last evening, there was a fender bender in Jersey and a box in the trunk that registered high radioactivity. Apparently this morning, police say the "father of the car's owner" offered police a plausible explanation.
