London Bombing Foiled
Mercedes found in London's Haymarket area outside some nightclubs last night. The car was smoking, when it was discovered... in time for police to defuse it. The car contained petrol, gas cylinders, nails... and could have cause a big explosion and lots of injuries. Reports are also saying the style of the explosive, while not sophisticated, is similar to those used in Iraq. A driver did run off and I'm readingand hearing that perhaps it could have been a suicide bomber or it could have been planned as a remote detonation.

No Press Limits in Imams' US Air Case
Good news from the Judge. A federal judge overseeing a lawsuit filed by six Muslim men who were removed from a US Airways flight has declined to limit public access to the case.
That's a good thing... and should prove interesting.
FBI Issues Scuba Industry Alert
Washington, D.C. (Jun 22, 2007 16:51 EST) The purpose of this advisory is to provide situational awareness to the scuba industry regarding behavior that may indicate an individual(s) is involved in nefarious activity. Reported in Underwater Times.
Makes you wonder what triggered this one.
Victory for Teacher Told to Pay Dues or Change Religions
A legal challenge mounted by a teacher in southern Ohio, who said a union official told her to pay dues or change religions, has prompted a federal district court to strike down a state law that allowed only those public employees who belonged to certain denominations the right to claim a religious objection to paying union dues.
Good for her.

Losing The Media War
Bears repeating from Blue Crab: How a compliant Western media is helping the West lose the information war in Iraq and the Middle East.

Radical Math in NYC Schools
Last evening I heard on TV about Radical Math, now being taught by over 400 teachers in NYC. It's all about "educating" students about social injustices thru mathematics.
Look at a list of topics that serve as math lessons, and this is just the last few on the list:
# Sweatshops # Taxes # Teaching # Unemployment # Voting # War in Iraq # Wealth # Welfare # Women
In the City Journal: Late last month, over 400 high school math teachers and education professors gathered in Brooklyn for a three-day conference, titled “Creating Balance in an Unjust World: Math Education and Social Justice.”The conference’s organizers left nothing to the imagination about their leftist agenda. At many of the conference’s 28 workshops, math teachers proudly demonstrated how they used classroom projects to train students in seeing social problems from a radical anticapitalist perspective. (emphasis mine)
This is apparently approved by the education board. How can this happen?
