Lego My Lego!

lego.jpg I  know this story is a day old, but it bears repeating.  NRO's got it, too.

Boils down to this pre-school bans LEGOS because they teach kids capitalism, ownership and all those evil things like 'what I built is bigger and cooler than what you built'.  So the teachers took the LEGOS away. And after some consideration, they let the kids have the toys back but only if they built Community buildings, each the same size and with no "ownership" of the buildings allowed.

 As the teachers state it:

"...the children were building their assumptions about ownership and the social power it conveys — assumptions that mirrored those of a class-based, capitalist society — a society that we teachers believe to be unjust and oppressive."

Now these statements are also revealing:

"We agreed that we want to take part in shaping the children's understandings from a perspective of social justice."

"From our conversations, several themes emerged...  Collectivity is a good thing... Moderation and equal access to resources are things to strive for... All structures will be standard sizes.

Be afraid  - very afraid for our children if this is what they are being taught.

When Sharia Law Trumps Constitutional Law

MALAYSIA.jpg

Woman battles against the “forced” conversion of her children to Islam

  • Malaysian couple has two toddlers - they want a divorce
  • Husband converts to Islam several months ago. Appeals to Islamic court for the divorce. Which means he gets the kids.
  • Malaysia has two legislations: Islamic law and constitutional law which often enter into conflict with each other above all in family law cases.  Ethnic minorities such as Chinese and Indians, fall under the jurisdiction of the civil courts.

That's the short version - but doesn't it give you that creepy feeling? Two laws of the land. One constitutional. One Sharia?

I don't think so.

General Pelosi’s Plan Criticized by Washington Post

Morning Coffee posts about the WP and Queen P.... best line:

"Aggressive oversight is quite different from mandating military steps according to an inflexible timetable conforming to the need to capture votes in Congress or at the 2008 polls."

The Roanoke Times has decided everyone has the right to know who carries concealed weapons.

They claim parents and neighbors have the need to know.

Will be interesting to see what happens next.

Democrats' Nightmare

From Recliner Commentaries: Within the last hour, Democratic strategist Bob Beckel admitted, in an interview on Fox News, that Fred Thompson for president would be their worst nightmare. Sounds good to me!

9th CIRCUIT CENSORS TERMS "NATURAL FAMILY," "MARRIAGE" & "FAMILY VALUES"

From the Pro-Family Law Center: Now these words are officially hate speech-  natural family, marriage and family values.

"The City of Oakland claimed that references to the "natural family, marriage and family values" constituted hate speech which is scary to city workers. United States District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled the city of Oakland had a right to bar two employees from posting a Good News Employee Association flier promoting traditional family values on an office bulletin board... BUT... gay and lesbian city workers had already been using the city's e-mail, bulletin board, and written communications systems for promoting their views to other workers, including the plaintiffs. No action was taken against those responsible for the public attack on the Bible and Christians working for the city."

"Plaintiffs, Regina Rederford and Robin Christy posted the flier in response to an e-mail to city employees announcing formation of a gay and lesbian employee association and other communications."

I find this to be Orwellian.  When government workers are prohibited from using the words "natural family, marriage and family values", and forming a group based on those values, because it is hate speech... we have lost.
