Dragging out an old post:

    I've been thinking about this whole Meyer tasering event at the University of Florida. More details are coming out about his rant and that perhaps it was planned. And of course the school is investigating the security force's actions.

But I found myself thinking that this thankfully did not happen during a forum with a conservative or Republican speaker. I'd put $100 on the desk, that if that were the case the entire coverage would be about surpression of speech and not the actions that took place or Meyer's motives. 

We say it could not happen here (ha!) - but in Britain, a man cannot get ankle surgery because he can't (or won't as they posit) quit smoking.

So when waiting times get long, and the system is overworked, you just weed out the less desirable candidates. Afterall, our tax dollars have to go to those most likely to have successful recuperations.

On the list, perhaps, to be denied access to health care over time:

1. Smokers
2. the Overweight
3. the Elderly
4. the Drug Addict
   
5. the Mentally Ill
6. Premature babies

What's next? Euthanasia?  They lean that way in Europe.  What if you have two major illnesses? Does this mean you can't have treatment for the first ailment because you might not survive the second?

 

    Reports this morning indicate that a third video is coming within 72 hours. What's the significance of that? Their PR team is working overtime.
